at long last!!

a fun group of about 6 women artist friends of mine get together every month (or six weeks) and we play, talk, cry, inspire and encourage each other on our journeys in life and the art world...both learning and marketing. we have been together for a few years now...it is great...i have learned much!!! well one of them came up with this great idea...a book of our combined artwork. sounded like a great idea at the time...hmmmmm...i was the third artist to have the book. the first two artists did amazing work. me? i am knee deep in monster dolls, right?! so the first deadline came and went. i played the 'but my mom died' card...they did not go for it....then i played the 'but then my stepmom died'...still no takers...and not much sympathy about my reluctance to participate in this fun project. okay...so we are scheduled to meet this coming saturday...no problem...i will just state the obvious..'are you kidding? i have 100 mini monster key fobs to make' surely they will stand by me...right? BUT...i went to calistoga with my husband this past thursday...we stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast, had our two hour spa treatments, picnicked by the fireplace, and read until we couldn't keep our eyes open. friday morning it was pouring rain....so we ate our delightful breakfast and found the oldest, mossiest, muddiest graveyard we could find. we tromped around for over an hour and got romantically soaked! we got some of the most divine photographs!!!! at any rate...long story coming to a close...I GOT INSPIRED!!! oh yes i did. i got inspired to work on the mixed media book project. it is bigger than what i am used to working on and oh my goodness....i am loving it! it is far from done...but...
the name of this piece is 'you broke my heart and now you are gone gone gone' the tribute to my mother that i never planned. thank you for letting me ramble today.
