back on the internet!

okay....so technically not until early tomorrow morning...but it is quiet in the studio and i have almost 300 emails to go through....oh yes...i am seizing the moment!
what did another week off the internet tell me?  that i spend a lot of time on the internet!  i had much more time to create this week....funny how i think i am going to just spent two minutes on the computer and......twenty minutes go by...hmmmm....instead...i said to myself that i would spend that twenty minutes starting a piece, or embellishing a piece...or finishing a piece..it really has been magical...so....the goal is to hit the computer first thing in the morning and then again at night....no in between 'snacking' tho...we shall see.....it is sooooo hard not to check in on facebook....what if something important happens....i do not want to miss it!  well...i am going to try this exercise!

                                                          'Feeling Odd Today'
these are two of the newer pieces that i created this week...yet to be framed by darling, handsome husband....along with a new group of art dolls....and some fun 'heART' pieces that i will be selling at some upcoming holiday fairs.  The first one is 'Open Studios' here in Benicia....Saturday and Sunday, December 1st and 2nd....I will be camped out with Carrie at her amazing shop "Hip Chick".  The next two will be in Berkeley at their Farmer's Market downtown on December 8th and 23rd.  (i will miss december 15th because my sister is flying in from malaysia for a week).  
i taught this background to the teens this past week...they got started but need more time to finish...yahoo....i think i finally challenged them...tee hee!

                                                                 'This I like'
this is the piece i finished tonight...i will introduce this background technique to my mixed media class on thursday and show the teens on friday....i used some resin paper for the wings and a sewing pattern for some texture in the back...and oh yes...some fun dots on the ballerina's dress!  this was very fun...i notice that it is a bit crooked on the substrate...hmmmm....nothing that a few doodles on the side won't fix...
a busy week all and all....helped my friend with a very successful vintage sale...after 6 weeks of sorting and purging...we are celebrating with pedicures tomorrow....and got to spend some time with family, friends a loved ones this past week....
